Dear Bloggie...
Ok initially I didn't have the mood to blog...
But since I've got nothing to do now, plus I'm alone at home...
AND since I'm gonna rot at home today and tomorrow, might as well do something worthwhile...
Ok so the past week has been kinda hectic for me...
Well most of the days at least...
Like I've written on my previous entry, my schedule has been pretty tight...
Had band like 90% of the time...
If it's not NASband, it's SPband...
So yar...
I actually feel my standard improving day by day...
Which is super great!
Anyways...
During band "camp", they should call it sectionals camp...
Anyway, we had sectionals most of the time...
Walked all the way to the Moberly stage there to practice...
I dislike Doraemon the most, cause I HATE intervals of 3rds....*RAWR!*
Don't ask me why, I'm a lil crossed eyed or something...
Nessun Dorma was ok, but there wasn't any strong beats so we don't know where to come in...
It's difficult to have a pulse without a conductor especially in slow music...
Now I'll go straight to the Section Competition...
Euphos were the first to present our pieces...
So we played Nessun Dorma first, since we felt it's abit draggy...
And as I predicted, the beats were quite off in the beginning...
But it caught up near the beginning...
Next was Doraemon, to be honest, I'm having like loads of mouth ulcers now...
And with a piece with so many tonguing involved, I was practically screaming for mercy...
*Reminds me of IBM 2007 all over again, sheesh*
And I screwed up the chromatic "fall" from high F to normal F...
Super crappy... oh, valve got stuck. -.-"
Then we ended off the whole song with a beautiful chord...
Then we bowed, and that's it...
Then during the results...
Laoban pointed out those things which were kinda obvious...
But all were taken positively...
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Clarinet section for being 1st runner up...
And also Saxophone section for winning the competition...
During the Saxophone presentation, I can't help but to just be mesmerised by the Bari Sax...
Don't ask me why, I'm just amazed...
All in all, great job to everyone who participated!
To my dear Eupho section, don't be too disheartened, suck up the failure and work harder next time, for we shall be victorious one day...=]
I'm really proud to have great juniors who are very dedicated...
And to have such diversity in our section, nothing else could make me happy...
To:
Christabel, you've been a great leader throughout this whole competition, organising all the scores and stands and stuff like that, I couldn't have done those things that you did, and I'm proud that you are the Section Leader of the Euphonium Section.=]
Joel, your enthusiasm and optimism has spread to the whole section which always make each and every single one of us believe that we can do anything if we put our thoughts into it.
Serene, your charisma provides us with alot of comical relief even when it's not needed. Apart from that, you are very friendly and a very good eupho player.
Kaizhi, I still remember you were the first year one girl who joined before the others. And I see alot of potential in you. Continue to persevere throughout the next 2 years in the band and you will see how much you've improved.
Hui Yi, the first time I saw you, you were this timid quiet girl who hardly speaks anything. But now, I see a different side of you, a very outgoing girl who loves to take pictures ALOT. Make me jealous of your nice pics only know hor..=p Other than that, you show alot of promise in your playing, and you can improve if you want to. Remember, buzzing is the key. =]
Mei Ping, a very bubbly character I must say, very sociable and fun to be around with. Though, you really need to work very very very hard in your playing as you still have much to learn. Do not be discouraged by good players around you, instead, learn from them and challenge yourself to be better than them someday.
Aisyah, a very nice person to talk to, looks at me weird sometimes, but she's weird too! Just kidding =p. She's someone who can understand people's problems. And a good Aunt Agony, listens to all of my problems which makes me feel good about myself. Other than that, she has great eupho playing foundation, knows the chromatic scales. She knows how to project her sound very well. Practice hard and take all the advice I have to give and you'll be a better eupho player in the future. =]
Kok Keong, my first impression of you, very pro player, and now, my impression of you is that you are actually very friendly. Can joke around here and there, a great sectionmate to have. I hope you can help to teach those weaker ones in our section one day and we can progress as a strong eupho section in the future.
Faris, my first impression of you, I though you were chinese, then was surprised to know you're malay. Aside from that, you really need to work very hard to catch up those two years of which you didn't play your eupho. I know it's hard, but since you've made the effort to stay in the band, it would be worthwhile that you work hard to improve youself even more. A very friendly chap to talk to. =]
Aaron, my first impression of you is that you're very good in your playing. And now you've shown me that you are very knowledgable and knows how to teach others so that others could be as good as you. Continue to help the others as they need your help.
Last but not least, Zhen Yang, thank you loads and loads and loads and loads for all the effort you put into this section competition in helping us. I've got no words to describe how thankful I am. A great senior with alot of commitment with a very big heart too. Even though sometimes his directions in teaching aren't that clear, but he's constantly trying to improve himself to become better in what he is doing. THANK YOU ZHEN YANG! =]
And to all my juniors, continue to practice hard, and also play hard too! Let's look forward to IBM concert as a united section! And after IBM, lets work hard together towards MD! =]
